After the Release: Resting in Spaciousness
You've been holding something. Maybe it's a decision you're waiting to hear about, a relationship you're trying to fix, or a future you're attempting to control through sheer force of will. This morning, you're invited to stop.
Not to give up. To rest.
There's a quality of spaciousness that arrives only after you've genuinely released your grip. Joe Dispenza teaches that the body doesn't know the difference between an experience and a thought about an experience—which means your nervous system is still contracted around the outcome you're trying to force. The tension isn't protecting you. It's keeping you small.
What if, instead, you could occupy the space between letting go and trusting?
Settle into a comfortable seat. Let your spine lengthen naturally without rigidity. Bring your awareness to your chest, that central chamber where you hold so much responsibility for how things turn out. Notice without judgment what you find there. Tightness. Heaviness. Heat. Emptiness. Simply notice.
Now, with each exhale, imagine you're releasing invisible threads that connect you to outcomes. You're not abandoning care. You're releasing the exhausting work of trying to control what isn't yours to control. With each breath out, these threads dissolve into space.
As you continue, Eckhart Tolle reminds us that "the present moment is all you ever have." Your power lives here, in this breath, in this choice of how you're meeting this morning—not in the future you cannot guarantee. The spaciousness you feel now, the slight opening in your chest, the quieting of mental loops—this is where your true sovereignty lives.
Spend three more minutes simply resting in this spacious awareness. You don't need to do anything with it. You don't need to feel anything particular. The practice is the resting itself, the willingness to occupy a space that isn't about controlling but about being present to whatever unfolds.
When you're ready, open your eyes gently. Notice how different your body feels. This is what's possible when you stop fighting what you cannot control.
Today, your choice is to return to this spaciousness whenever you notice yourself contracting around outcomes. Meet each moment as it arrives, not as you think it should be.
This practice takes 5 minutes. Do it before checking your phone.
