Before the day gets loud, before the first task pulls you forward — pause here for a moment.
There's something the body knows that the mind keeps trying to skip past. You can think about a state endlessly and never arrive in it. The mind moves fast. The body is slower, more honest. It holds the actual measure of what you believe.
This is worth sitting with: your nervous system doesn't register what you want. It registers what you are. The frequency you're actually broadcasting, right now, in this moment — not the words you're saying, but the felt sense underneath them. That's the signal.
So before anything else, let's find out where you actually are.
Sit comfortably. Feet on the floor if you can — feel the ground taking your weight. Let your hands rest open in your lap.
Take three slow breaths. Not performance breaths. Just the body breathing itself, a little deeper than usual.
Now ask yourself, without judgment: What does my body believe this morning?
Not what your mind hopes. Not what you're working toward. What does the body actually feel — in the chest, the belly, the shoulders? Tight? Braced? Soft? Open?
Just notice. Name it quietly to yourself. This is not about fixing anything yet. It's about getting honest.
Now: bring to mind one version of yourself — not a fantasy, but a felt sense — of who you are when things are flowing. When you're steady. When you trust what's unfolding. You've been that person before, even briefly. In the shower, on a walk, in a moment of unexpected ease.
What does that person feel like in the body? Where is the ease? In the chest, unclenched? In the breath, not held? In the hands, not gripping?
Let yourself feel that — not imagine it from the outside, but inhabit it from within. Five minutes here. Just breathing as that version of you. Nothing to fix, nothing to force. You're not performing it. You're practicing the felt sense until it becomes familiar.
Your nervous system learns through repetition. What you repeat in the body with genuine feeling, it begins to treat as the baseline. The default. The self that makes decisions before the mind even weighs in.
This is the practice. Not grand. Not complicated. Just the body, shown something true, again and again, until it believes it.
Carry one thing into the day: the difference between bracing and open. When you notice yourself bracing — chest tight, breath held, shoulders up — that's the gap. You don't have to close it perfectly. Just notice it. That noticing is already the practice.
The signal is clear when the body is honest.
