New Moon in Aries: Bold Seeds Planted in Trust, Not Control

New Moon in Aries: Bold Seeds Planted in Trust, Not Control

The new moon in Aries arrives as an invitation to plant seeds without obsessing over their sprouting. You stand at a threshold where boldness and surrender meet, where your desire to act collides beautifully with your willingness to release the outcome. This is the paradox of the new moon—a time of initiation that asks you to commit fully while holding everything lightly.

Thich Nhat Hanh teaches us that "the present moment is the only moment available to us, and it is the door to all moments." Today, as you set intentions under this new moon, you are not planting seeds for a future you must control. You are placing them in the soil of this moment, in the only ground that actually exists. The seed does not argue with the darkness of the soil or demand proof that it will grow. It surrenders to conditions it cannot see, to a process far larger than itself.

Alan Watts reminds us that we cannot live life by always looking ahead, always grasping for the next moment. "The only way to make sense of change is to pluck it as it comes and enjoy it as it is." Your new moon intentions are not insurance policies against an uncertain future. They are declarations of what you genuinely want to participate in creating, without needing to choreograph every step.

Here is your practice. Find a quiet place and sit with your spine gently upright. Close your eyes and place one hand on your heart, the other on your belly. Begin to notice your natural breath—not changing it, simply witnessing it. As you breathe in, silently say "I plant." As you breathe out, say "I release." Do this for three full minutes, letting the rhythm become a conversation between your desire and your trust. Feel how the body knows how to breathe without your interference. This is the intelligence you are learning to trust.

When you finish, write down one intention for this lunar cycle. Not a goal with checkpoints or metrics. An intention that excites you and that you genuinely surrender to, knowing you cannot control how it unfolds. Something like "I intend to speak my truth more clearly" or "I intend to show up creatively, whatever emerges."

Today's intention I plant a seed in trust, knowing that my role is to tend with presence, not to engineer the harvest.
