The light that never needed to announce itself

Don't try to arrive somewhere. Just notice what's already present.
Now bring to mind one moment — specific, quiet — when something worked out without you forcing it. Not a triumph. Something smaller. A door that opened. A conversation that landed right. A morning you didn't expect to feel okay, and you did.
Let the memory settle somewhere in your body. Where do you feel it — chest, shoulders, the space just behind the sternum?
Stay there.
Lao Tzu watched this same movement for a lifetime. The highest good, he wrote, is like water: it nourishes without effort, it settles into low places, it asks for nothing in return. He wasn't offering comfort. He was naming something he'd observed over and over — that the force which actually sustains life rarely announces itself. What you just recalled is proof of that principle working in you. The light that held you then wasn't dramatic. It simply made the next thing possible.
