The Solar Threshold

Morning light entering the eyes signals the brain's master clock — the suprachiasmatic nucleus — lifting the body's natural cortisol peak and priming the nervous system for alert presence. What you receive in this first light sets the tone for everything that follows.

Stand near a window. Let the morning light touch your face — feel its weight on your skin, the faint warmth even before the day heats up. This is the threshold. An eclipse is coming, and the light is about to change.

Place one hand on your chest. Breathe in slowly and notice what you've been keeping in shadow — not to fix it, just to name it. The unhidden self doesn't require perfection. It requires honesty.

Florence Scovel Shinn knew this a century before the neuroscience caught up: she taught that your good is not withheld from you — it is only obscured by the stories you tell about your own unworthiness. The light was never the problem. You were always enough to receive it. You only needed to stop stepping out of the way.

Exhale. Feel your feet on the floor. Say quietly: I am here before the shift.

This is the preparation: showing up fully to the light while it still holds its ordinary shape.
