The Threshold Body
When you slow your breath and distribute weight evenly through your feet, the vestibular system and interoceptive pathways send coherence signals upward — heart rate variability rises, and the nervous system finds a kind of bilateral settling.
Stand barefoot if you can — on floor, on earth, on tile. Feel the weight of you, distributed equally through both feet. Today the light and dark hold each other in perfect measure, and your body knows this balance too: breath in, breath out. Left side, right side. Doing, resting.
Place one hand on your chest, one on your belly. Notice which side of you feels heavier this morning — the bright, outward-facing part, or the quiet, inward-pulling one. Don't fix it. Just notice. Eckhart Tolle named what the nervous system is already practicing — he called it the witness, the part of you that observes without judgment, that can hold the doing and the being simultaneously without needing to resolve them. He was pointing at the same coherence the instruments now measure: that balance doesn't require resolution, only presence. The equinox doesn't demand that you resolve the tension — it asks you to stand in it, steady, as a witness to your own wholeness.
