Today the light and dark stand equal. Not in opposition — in momentary accord. For one turn of the earth, neither gaining, neither receding. Something in you knows this feeling: the brief, clarifying sense of being exactly at the center of something.
This is not the moment to stop. It is the moment to see.
You have been in a long season of doing. Building, tending, showing up. And all of that doing has produced something you may not have fully looked at yet — because you were already moving toward the next thing. The autumn equinox is the fulcrum point. Not the ending. The place where what you've accumulated becomes visible, and from that visibility, what's next becomes possible.
Find ten minutes tonight. Sit somewhere quiet, with a little natural light if you can — a window, a candle, the last warmth of the evening sky. Let your hands rest open in your lap. Take three slow breaths, longer on the exhale than the inhale. Let your shoulders drop.
Then ask yourself, without judgment: What grew this year?
Not what you planned to grow. Not what you hoped for. What actually appeared — in your relationships, your work, your inner life. What skills quietly sharpened? What fears loosened their grip? What parts of yourself became more available to you? Let answers come without ranking them. Write them down if you need to see them clearly.
Then: What surprised me? The unexpected growth is often the truest indicator of where the real work happened.
From there: What has run its course? What are you still maintaining that has already completed itself — a dynamic, a story, a version of yourself you've been carrying out of habit? You don't have to force it out. You only need to notice it. Name what is ready to compost.
And finally: From what I can now see — what is actually possible? Not a plan. Not a resolution. Just a sense of what the ground you've built is capable of holding next.
The harvest is not what you wish you had done. It is what you actually did. What you actually became. That is the only harvest there is.
And here, at the balance point, all of it is available to you — the growing, the completing, the still-forming thing beneath the surface. Stand here long enough to feel the full weight of it in both hands.
The quieter months are coming. Enter them from this place — not as someone who has arrived at the end of a season, but as someone who has found their footing for the next one.
This ritual takes 10 minutes. Do it tonight or within 24 hours of the Autumn Equinox.
