What Feeds the Signal
Interoception — the nervous system's real-time read of your internal state — runs faster than thought. The vagus nerve carries this stream upward continuously, and research shows that attending to it shifts autonomic balance: HRV rises, the stress response softens, and the body's pre-verbal signals become legible.
Sit with both feet flat on the floor. Feel the weight of your body in the chair — the pressure, the warmth, the subtle hum of being held.
Now bring something to mind that you consumed this morning: a sound, a screen, a conversation, a sip of something. Don't judge it. Simply notice what happened in your body when it arrived. Did your chest soften or tighten? Did your breath deepen or go shallow? Did your jaw release or clench?
Dispenza recognized what the science of interoception maps: the body is the subconscious mind. It has been memorizing every experience, filing each as a biological signature long before you thought to pay attention. The body doesn't debate. It records. What the instruments now confirm, he pointed to plainly — your cells are listening before your thoughts arrive.
Your body reads everything before your mind decides. This is the discerning signal — not a concept, but a felt response. One more breath. The Tao does not announce itself. It waits in the space you cleared. What, right now, actually feeds you?
You already know. The signal was never absent — only covered. Subtraction reveals it. You've known all along.
