Arrival: Orienting to This Month's Light
When your eyes soften and you breathe slowly toward light, your nervous system responds in kind — photoreceptive signals shift the brain toward coherent, low-frequency waves, and the slow exhale activates the vagus nerve, drawing HRV upward and the stress response down.
Sit where you are. Feel the weight of your body in the chair or on the floor — the pressure of the seat against your thighs, your feet flat and solid. Take one breath in through the nose, slow and full, and let it go.
Now notice whatever light is reaching you — through a window, a doorway, the soft glow of a screen. Let your eyes soften. This light is landing on you right now, on your skin, your hands, your face.
Breathe in as if drawing that light down into the chest. Breathe out slowly. Again. Each inhale, a small arrival. Each exhale, a settling in.
Joe Dispenza spent years documenting what happens when people place conscious attention on light and breath together — heart and brain begin to synchronize, the body shifts out of survival mode and into a generative state. He called this the first move of transformation: not effort, but orientation. You are doing that now.
You don't need to be anywhere else. You are here, in June, in light. Awareness of that light is already the first act of illumination. To feel it landing on you — to let it in — is to have already begun shining.
