The Gardener's Discernment
Sit with both hands resting open in your lap. Take one slow breath in through the nose, out through the mouth. Picture a garden bed — yours, real or imagined. Notice what's growing there: the wanted plants, the volunteers, the ones that have quietly taken over.
Now ask: What in my life is crowding out what I most want to grow? Don't rush the answer. Let it rise like a weed you finally recognize — obvious once you see it. Name one thing. Feel its weight in your hands. Then, with a slow exhale, set it gently aside. You're not tearing it out in rage. You're choosing, with care, what gets the light.
Discernment is not rejection — it is love directed with intention.
