Because Rumi wasn't talking about romantic love.
He was talking about Love with a capital L.
The creative force. The magnetic pull. The frequency that calls everything — relationships, abundance, opportunities, your entire reality — into form.
And here's what he knew that modern manifestation culture keeps missing:
You're not looking for love. You're clearing the space for it to find you.
The barriers we mistake for protection
Rumi says the work isn't to seek love.
It's to find the barriers you've built against it.
What does that actually mean?
Think about the last time you wanted something — a relationship, a job, a breakthrough — and it didn't come.
Chances are, part of you was simultaneously:
- Wanting it
- Protecting yourself from wanting it too much
- Preparing for disappointment
- Staying small so the fall wouldn't hurt as bad
That's the barrier.
Not a wall someone else built. The one you built — brick by brick, disappointment by disappointment — to keep yourself safe from the vulnerability of wanting something you might not get.
Rumi knew: The thing you want can't reach you while you're braced against it.
Love as creative force
When Rumi wrote about love, he wasn't writing Hallmark cards.
He was describing the force that moves planets, that pulls seeds toward the sun, that calls you toward your own becoming.
It's the same force Neville called assumption.
The same energy Joe Dispenza calls elevated emotion.
The same frequency Abraham-Hicks calls alignment.
It's not something you do.
It's something you allow by removing what's in the way.
The practice: removing one barrier
You don't need to demolish every wall at once.
Start with one brick.
Step 1: Name the barrier
Ask yourself: "If I'm honest, what am I protecting myself from by not fully opening to what I want?"
Maybe it's:
- The humiliation of wanting and not receiving
- The vulnerability of being seen in your desire
- The grief of past disappointments
- The fear that you're not worthy of it
Write it down. Be specific.
Step 2: Feel where it lives
Close your eyes. Bring that barrier to mind.
Where do you feel it in your body?
Chest tight? Throat closed? Belly clenched?
Don't try to fix it. Just feel it.
Rumi again: "The wound is the place where the Light enters you."
Step 3: Choose one moment of openness
You don't have to tear the whole wall down today.
Just choose one moment where you'll let yourself want what you want without the hedge, without the backup plan, without the "but probably not."
Maybe it's:
- Five minutes of visualization without protecting yourself from disappointment
- One conversation where you're honest about what you actually desire
- A morning practice where you let yourself feel the frequency of already having it
The barrier will try to close again. That's normal.
You're not trying to force it open permanently.
You're just practicing the motion of opening — even for a breath.
What Rumi understood about attraction
The famous Rumi quote that gets thrown around every manifestation circle:
"What you seek is seeking you."
But here's what gets missed:
The thing seeking you can only find you when you're available to be found.
Not hidden behind walls.
Not protected by cynicism.
Not hedging your bets with "I don't really care anyway."
The love frequency — the creative force that calls everything into form — doesn't respond to your words.
It responds to your openness.
Your willingness to be vulnerable enough to want.
To be seen in your wanting.
To stay open even when past evidence says you should close.
This Valentine's Day
Forget the flowers and the prix fixe menus.
The real practice is this:
Find one barrier you've built against love — not romantic love, but Love, the creative force — and choose one moment to lower it.
Not forever.
Just for a breath.
Feel what it's like to want without armor.
To be open without guarantee.
To let yourself be found by what's seeking you.
That's the frequency that changes everything.
