The Nervous System Baseline Check
The first moments before habitual thought patterns fire are a neurological opening — your parasympathetic nervous system is accessible here, HRV naturally higher, the stress response not yet recruited. What you do in this window trains your baseline.
Before you reach for your phone or your to-do list, pause. Feel the chair or floor beneath you — its solidity pressing back against your body. Take one slow breath and notice where air enters: nose, throat, chest, belly. Now scan without judgment. Is your jaw clenched? Are your shoulders lifted toward your ears? Is your stomach braced? Simply name what you find — tight, loose, warm, cool, settled, buzzing.
Joe Dispenza spent years studying how the body becomes a record of the past — a biological archive of every repeated thought, stress, and habit you've lived. He calls reading the body before the analytical mind fully boots up the beginning of real change. This scan is exactly that: you noticing the record before the day writes over it.
