Let your breath settle into a simple rhythm: four counts in, four counts out. Not controlled — just even. A steady tide. Give it a few cycles until it feels natural.
As you breathe, notice the space inside your chest. Not the tightness — the room around it. There is always more space than the tension suggests.
Bring to mind something you've been carrying this week. You don't have to name it. You don't have to understand its source. Just feel where it lives in the body — a density in your chest, a weight across your shoulders, a low hum somewhere in the middle of you.
Don't try to resolve it. Just notice that it's there.
Now inhale slowly, all the way to the top of your breath.
And on the exhale — not forcefully, but completely — let your body go. Let your chest deflate. Let your shoulders drop. Let your jaw unclench.
Feel what remains in the space after the breath leaves.
Most people rush past this moment. They release something and immediately fill the space back up — the next plan, the next worry, the next thing to manage. But stay here for a moment, right in the pause between exhale and the next inhale.
There is a quiet there. Find it.
Breathe in again. Breathe all the way out again. Find the quiet once more.
That quiet is not emptiness. It is room.
With your hand still on your chest, bring your attention to your heart — not as an idea, but as a place. The center of your chest, slightly left. Warm. Moving.
Breathe into that spot directly, as if the air were entering through the front of your chest. Let each inhale expand that space a little wider.
Now call up a feeling. Not a memory, not a story — just the felt quality of freedom. Of a morning when nothing is pressing on you. The sensation of open road ahead. The physical weight of nothing-to-carry.
Let it arise in your chest as warmth, or as a loosening, or as a slow, quiet expansion.
Stay with it for several breaths.
This is the signal you are sending — not with words, but with the body.
When you generate a genuine feeling of spaciousness, your nervous system receives information. It stops scanning for the threat. It registers: that chapter is finished. I am not still inside it.
What was released is complete. The space it left behind is not a wound. It is a clearing.
And into a clearing, light comes.
Keep breathing into your heart. Let the warmth there grow steadily with each inhale — not dramatic, not forced, just consistent. With each exhale, soften a little more: shoulders, jaw, the muscles behind your eyes.
You are not manufacturing a feeling. You are remembering one that already belongs to you — the feeling of being unencumbered, of having enough room, of being exactly where you are without needing it to be otherwise.
Hold it here. Let your body soak in it the way skin takes in warmth from the sun.
When you're ready, take one long breath — five counts in, five counts out.
Open your eyes.
You came here carrying something, and you are leaving lighter — and the space inside you is already open to what comes next.
